JDPC-Jos: Social Justice and Human Development for Peace Initiative (JDPC) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos operates as the social arm of the Catholic Church, a Faith-Based Organisation (FBO) with the mandate to take care of the social needs of the Church through communities. With acceptable international standard and global best practices, JDPC engages in the following thematic areas Animation and Research, Archdiocesan Women Empowerment Programme (AWEP), Emergency Preparedness and Response Training Department (EPRT), Good Governance and Human Rights, Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation, and Rural and Urban Development.

CAFOD: (Catholic Agency For Overseas Development) is an international development charity that works with communities in Nigeria to fight poverty and inequality, build peace, and provide practical help in emergencies. We focus on areas where women, girls, and vulnerable groups are marginalized, youth are restless, environmental degradation occurs, and communities struggle to cope with disasters. CAFOD works through local partners and their global Church network.
The study will be based on the Barometer of Cultural and Religious Pluralism.
The Cultural and Religious Pluralism Barometer is a tool developed by the Pharos Observatory to assess and report on the level of identity-related tensions within a society. It provides an indication of a society's ability to preserve the common good. The Barometer uses an innovative, replicable methodology to analyse cultural and religious dynamics, taking into account facts, perceptions and opinions. It identifies the forces of fragmentation as well as the forces of cohesion, and alerts of the risks of conflict. This evidence-based assessment provides a diagnosis and recommendations. These are addressed to decision-makers and civil society players, and lead to advocacy actions and support for the implementation of appropriate solutions to bring peace to societies.
Working with the project coordinator and the Pharos Observatory's associate expert, the researcher will be tasked with documentary research, surveys and analysis report, in line with the methodology of the Pluralism Barometer.
